MC script & cheat sheet 🎤

Warm, loud, a little silly. The MC is the heartbeat of the event.

Tone: name every kid every chance you get. Cheer every paddle. Never call out a missed pop-up — celebrate the next one. Music between heats, mic on for every wave.

Welcome & warm-up — 13:00

"Welcome to the first ever Sunset Duckies Cup! Quick warm-up on the sand, heat numbers going on arms, heat boards going up. We're surfing at two — every duckling please be checked in by half past one. Parents, the registration desk is right there. Let's go."

Opening — 14:00 (first heat)

"Welcome to the first ever Sunset Duckies Cup! Today is about celebrating how far each of you ducklings has come. Heats of 4, ten minutes. Our judges aren't looking for tricks — they're looking for what your coaches taught you: paddle hard, pop up, stand tall, ride it in, finish with a smile. Parents — cheer for every kid in the water, not just yours. Let's surf!"

Heat intro (every heat)

"Up next, Heat ___. In red, ___. In yellow, ___. In blue, ___. In green, ___. Ducklings, paddle out — your ten minutes start NOW!"

Live calls (energy, not analysis)

Break (15:30)

"Ducklings — BBQ is open! Grab food, dry off, get warm. Finals start at four sharp. Parents — heads up, the parent heat is at half four and we have four spots. Talk to me."

Parent Heat (16:30)

"Alright ducklings — THIS is the moment. Four parents, ten minutes, same five tick boxes. But YOU are the judges for the side awards. We're voting Biggest Wipeout, Loudest Claim, Most Determined Paddle, Best Dad Stance, Best Mom Stance. Loudest cheer wins. Let's see what they've got!"

Awards — 17:00

Every side award gets a one-line story. Hand the mic to Andras or Dori for the crowns.

"The Sunset Stoke Award goes to ___ — for the biggest claim we've ever seen on a knee-high wave!"

Order: 6 side awards (kids) → 4 crowns (Duckling K&Q, Duck K&Q) → parent side awards → certificates handed out as kids leave.

Closing
